Gather at the Gallery

Gather at the Gallery consists of ten weekly sessions at $65 per couple or per two people. Sessions will begin in April 2011 and continue throughout the year and into summer 2012.
Groups of 12 people will visit nearby museums, galleries and art studios. Each visit includes either an interactive tour or a hands-on experience creating art with a variety of mediums such as, glass, collage, pottery and paint.
During the interactive tour an art educator engages the participants in an inquiry-based discussion. The group is invited to take a closer look and experience the details of four to five pieces of art work. While this is going on, the art educator asks questions that encourages creative exploration and active discussion.
Whether it’s during the interactive tour or the art making experience, participants are given the opportunity to:
• Gather together, share ideas and experiences and move beyond the disease
• Build and establish social networks in a safe “stigma-free” environment
• Experience intellectual stimulation through social conversation and artwork interpretation
All of these experiences give participants the opportunity for personal growth and a heightened quality of life.
